Deleting only a remote device is simple. However, there are several degrees of deletion possible. And deleting a remote device can affect several other aspects of your CygNet setup.
To (Only) Delete a Remote Device
To Delete a Fully Implemented Remote Device
There are many degrees of remote device deletion possible, depending on many variables unique to your setup and needs. Exactly what you delete (or alter) depends on your specific needs and setup.
The following are items you might need to address to thoroughly delete a remote device.
| If you had these... |
|
...you might want to delete these. |
|---|---|---|
| Device Template File(s) |
|
If you are attempting to completely remove all trace of a remote device from your CygNet system, you might need to delete the remote device template file from the DDS. |
| Communication Device EIEs |
|
If you created a dedicated communication device for the deleted remote device, you might need to delete it from the DDS. |
| Groups |
|
If you are using groups and deleted a remote device that was in a group hierarchy, you might need to rebuild the hierarchy. |
| CygNet Studio Items |
|
If you added or altered CygNet Studio controls to display information from the deleted remote device, you might need to delete or reassign the controls in CygNet Studio. |
| EFM Meters |
|
If you created meters for measurement for this remote device, you might need to delete them from the measurement service. |
| UDCs/Points |
|
When you created your remote device, you might have created UDCs for its data group elements. If these UDCs were used in points in the Point Service (PNT) and are no longer required, go to the PNT and delete them. |
| Facilities |
|
When you created your remote device, CygNet generated a device facility. Delete it from your Facility Service (FAC). You might also have created linked facilities for this remote device that are no longer useful; also delete these from your FAC. Note: You must delete points before deleting facilities. Otherwise, the PNT regenerates facilities for the points for your remote device. |
| VHS Records |
|
If you collected history on the point in the PNT for this remote device, you must also delete the appropriate VHS records. |
